The 2025 National MILO® Marathon Finals brought electrifying energy to La Paz Plaza in Iloilo City as thousands of runners converged for the 25th race of the season—an inspiring prelude to the marathon’s golden 50th anniversary in 2026. This year’s edition crowned two rising stars, marking a fresh chapter in the storied legacy of the country’s biggest and longest-running footrace. Eduardo Flores, a 27-year-old runner from General Santos City, delivered an outstanding 2:27:58 finish to secure the title of MILO® Marathon King. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Myrel Benignos of Negros made history with a 3:15:21 finish, earning her place as the youngest MILO® Marathon Queen ever. Their performances embodied the essence of MILO®—a celebration of grit, discipline, and the unyielding drive to be better every day.
Their victories echo the enduring spirit of past champions like Richard Salaño and Christine Hallasgo, who currently carry the Philippine flag at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand. Inspired by these trailblazers, Flores and Benignos now take their place among the new generation of athletes uplifting Filipino pride through unwavering commitment and passion.
Beyond the winners, the Iloilo leg showcased the strength of community and collaboration. More than 24,000 runners—from seasoned marathoners to first-time participants and athletes with disabilities—filled the streets, supported by local government units, medical teams, and volunteers. The event became a moving testament to MILO®’s mission of building an active, inclusive, and resilient nation through its grassroots initiatives under MILO Active Pilipinas.
As MILO® eyes its milestone 50th year, even grander celebrations await. With 50 races planned for 2026, the marathon continues to cement its legacy as the country’s most influential platform for nurturing champions—on the track, in the classroom, and in life.
