The quiet coastal town of Dingalan found new energy as Globe Coop, the employee cooperative of Globe Telecom, rolled into Dingalan Community College (DCC) with its first-ever Globe Coop CAREavan—a mobile mission of education, livelihood, and digital empowerment. What began as a simple idea among Globe employees grew into a heartfelt movement to reach underserved communities nationwide, including teen mothers, fisherfolk, out-of-school youth, special children, and indigenous groups. Dingalan became the starting point of this renewed commitment, with Globe’s regional teams working hand in hand to plant seeds of long-term, localized change.
At DCC, stories of resilience emerged from students who had previously struggled with financial pressures, sometimes leading to missed classes or dropping out. Globe Coop responded by reshaping its outreach model into the Bag-to-School Program, which equips students not only with essential learning tools but also empowers their families to generate income from home. Seventeen students were chosen as beneficiaries—each receiving a meaningful combination of academic support and livelihood opportunities carefully curated to meet the needs of their households.

The students received Educational Support Packages filled with notebooks, writing materials, and school essentials, easing the burden of daily school expenses and helping them stay focused on their studies. Meanwhile, their families were given Globe Retailer Packages, complete with a basic phone, retailer SIM, point-of-sale materials, and up to ₱1,000 autoload—providing them with a ready-to-start micro-business that can grow with consistent demand for mobile services in their community. The dual-support approach immediately created a ripple effect: students felt more confident returning to class, and families gained a small but steady source of livelihood.
Beyond financial empowerment, the CAREavan also invested in digital readiness. Through the Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) workshop, students explored real-life scenarios that taught them how to navigate online spaces responsibly and critically. They learned about digital footprints, online ethics, and safe browsing—a vital toolkit for young people increasingly living, learning, and interacting in a connected world.
“Globe Coop is about creating positive, lasting change,” shared Jonalyn Aguilar, Globe Coop Board Director. “Every student we support, every family we uplift, brings us closer to building stronger, more empowered communities.”
With this first stop, the Globe Coop CAREavan set the tone for a nationwide mission anchored in compassion, empowerment, and collaboration. As it continues its journey, it carries a clear message: when education, livelihood, and digital skills come together, communities gain the power to rise—brighter, more resilient, and more connected than ever.
