Mariposa Mews Sets the Gold Standard for Sustainable Living

In an inspiring milestone for Philippine real estate, Mariposa Mews has officially received its LEED for Homes Gold Certification, a globally recognized mark of sustainability from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Developed by Makiling Mews Corp., the project proudly stands as the first and only condominium in the country to earn this distinction — redefining what it means to live responsibly in the modern urban landscape.

A Vision of Green Leadership

Held at the Mariposa Mews Function Room in Quezon City, the plaque unveiling gathered key figures from government and industry who have supported the project’s sustainable mission. Among them were Makiling Mews Corp. directors Gerret Lim, Stephanie Lim, Fritz Dy, Edward Dy, Elvira Poon, and Gene Lim, joined by Quezon City Councilor Atty. Vincent Belmonte, who represented Mayor Joy Belmonte, along with city officials from the Department of Building Official, Climate Change and Sustainability Department, and LEIPO.

In his opening remarks, Managing Director Gerret Lim shared how the recognition symbolizes the company’s unwavering commitment to a greener future.

This milestone is not just an award—it’s a reaffirmation of our vision to build homes that nurture both people and the planet. Mariposa Mews shows that sustainability and modern living can thrive together,” he said.

Partnership for a Sustainable City

Speaking on behalf of the city government, Councilor Belmonte lauded the project as a reflection of Quezon City’s own environmental agenda.

Mariposa Mews embodies the vision we share—to create inclusive, innovative, and environmentally responsible spaces. As part of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, Quezon City prioritizes sustainability in every aspect of governance,” he emphasized.

He added that the development perfectly aligns with the city’s Climate Action Plan, proving that design can be a catalyst for change and that sustainable communities are essential to reducing global carbon emissions.

A Deeper Look into Green Design

Guests were treated to an engaging discussion led by Gerret Lim, who outlined the extensive process behind achieving LEED Gold Certification. From integrating energy-efficient systems and water-saving features to ensuring healthy indoor air quality and using eco-friendly materials, every detail of Mariposa Mews was carefully designed to minimize its environmental footprint while maximizing residents’ comfort and well-being.

The project’s emphasis on innovation, livability, and long-term efficiency sets it apart as a model for future residential developments in the Philippines — blending modern aesthetics with deep environmental consciousness.

A Movement Toward a Greener Tomorrow

Closing the ceremony, Jinggoy Noble, CEO of Terra Solutions Realty, praised the collaboration that brought the project to life.

Mariposa Mews is more than a home—it’s a movement toward a greener, smarter, and more sustainable future for Filipino families,” he said. “We’re proud to market a development that builds change, not just buildings.”

With its newly unveiled LEED Gold plaque, Mariposa Mews officially joins a global network of green-certified communities — proving that Filipino developers can lead the charge in sustainable innovation. Beyond being a milestone, it stands as a promise: that the homes of tomorrow can be beautiful, efficient, and kind to the Earth all at once.
