In times of crisis, a steady supply of electricity can mean the difference between life and death. Recognizing this urgent need, Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), the country’s top motorcycle manufacturer and power products provider, has reinforced its commitment to nation-building through a significant donation of life-saving generator sets to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

Mr. Richard Gordon, PRC Chairman

HPI recently turned over the second batch of 70 units of 6.5KVA Generator Sets, completing its pledge of 140 units to the humanitarian organization. The first half of the donation was delivered in September 2024, and with this latest turnover, the company has further strengthened PRC’s capacity to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies.m

For decades, Honda has been a trusted ally of PRC, especially in times of great need. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and the devastation brought by Super Typhoon Odette in 2021, the company’s support proved vital in helping the Red Cross extend aid to countless Filipinos. This long-standing partnership has once again been highlighted through the donation, aimed at sustaining vital operations during calamities and disasters.

The donated generator sets will be deployed across PRC chapters nationwide. These machines will power essential medical equipment, keep communications running, and ensure relief operations continue seamlessly, even in areas plunged into darkness by typhoons, earthquakes, or the looming challenges of La Niña. In critical situations, these generators will help keep lights on in evacuation centers, energize mobile clinics, and guarantee uninterrupted service to communities most in need.

We at HPI are committed to supporting institutions like the Philippine Red Cross because we share the same value—saving Filipino lives,” said HPI President Takeshi Kobayashi during the turnover ceremony. Present at the event were PRC Chairman Richard Gordon, Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang, and other PRC officials, alongside HPI executives led by Assistant Vice President for Business Administration Gerry Datario.

The initiative falls under Honda’s “Honda Loves You” banner, reinforcing the company’s vision of becoming “a company that society wants to exist.” By contributing to life-saving programs and social initiatives, HPI continues to live up to its mission of spreading the joy of mobility, expanding human potential, and serving as a reliable partner in times of adversity.

Through this donation, Honda has powered more than machines—it has powered hope.
