Sinclair National Art Competition: Walls as Canvases of Filipino Creativity

In every home, wall finishes do more than cover space—they set the mood, tell stories, and capture style. Among the many options, decorative lime plaster stands out as a medium that is as timeless as it is versatile. Known for its organic textures and natural warmth, lime plaster transforms ordinary walls into interiors that feel alive, sophisticated, and full of character.

This artistry is at the heart of Makaw Decorative Lime Plaster & Effect Paints, a brand that blends natural elegance with creative freedom. More than just a finish, Makaw allows homeowners, artists, and designers alike to craft walls that echo imagination—whether bold and dramatic or subtle and refined. With Makaw, a wall is never just a wall; it becomes a canvas.

It is this belief in creativity without boundaries that fuels the Sinclair Annual National Art Competition, a yearly platform dedicated to celebrating Filipino talent. In partnership with the Unified Artists Society, the competition encourages participants to explore the endless possibilities of design and expression through two unique categories.

The first, Canvas Obra (Representational Art), invites visual artists to reimagine the potential of lime plaster. Moving beyond the conventional use of paint, this category emphasizes texture, depth, and individuality. With Makaw, every layer, stroke, and finish opens the door to new ways of storytelling.

Meanwhile, the second category, Wall Obra (Ficem Board), highlights the creative possibilities for architects and interior designers. This division demonstrates how Makaw finishes can transform walls into statement pieces—whether through rustic charm or sleek modernity. From cozy living rooms to expansive commercial spaces, the designs illustrate how walls themselves can inspire emotion and atmosphere.

Open to all Filipino artists aged 18 and above, the Sinclair Annual National Art Competition is more than just a contest—it is a celebration of vision, craftsmanship, and innovation. Running from August 1 to November 30, 2025, the competition promises to uncover extraordinary works that push the boundaries of decorative art.

By bringing together tradition, innovation, and artistry, Sinclair and Makaw reaffirm their commitment to nurturing Filipino creativity. After all, when given the right medium, artists don’t just paint or design—they build experiences, craft identities, and leave legacies on walls that speak.
