Bacolod Toasts to Heritage and Talent at 5th Tanduay Rum Festival

Bacolod City is set to take center stage once again as it hosts the 5th Tanduay Bacolod Rum Festival from August 28 to 31, perfectly timed with the global celebration of Rum Month. Since its launch in 2019 through the partnership of Tanduay Distillers, Inc. and the City Government of Bacolod, the festival has blossomed into one of the city’s signature events — honoring its deep cultural roots while showcasing its evolving creativity and global appeal.

Honoring Sugarcane and Rum Heritage

At its heart, the festival pays tribute to Bacolod’s proud sugarcane and rum-making tradition. This legacy, born from Negros’ fertile fields, has not only fueled the local economy but also shaped Bacolod’s identity as a hub of artistry, hospitality, and craftsmanship. “This is not just Bacolod’s pride, it’s the pride of the entire nation,” said Mayor Greg Gasataya. “Our rum heritage connects us to our past, strengthens our identity, and positions the Philippines on the global stage.”

“Ilabas ang Natatagong Galing”

This year’s theme, “Ilabas ang Natatagong Galing”, places the spotlight on hidden Filipino talent — from music and dance to culinary arts and the growing craft of mixology. Beyond revelry, the festival aims to deepen awareness of rum’s artistry and its rising role in Philippine cocktail culture, inspiring both locals and visitors to appreciate its craftsmanship.

Festival Highlights

From August 28 to 30, Bacolod’s streets and stages will burst with life through colorful parades, dance competitions, culinary showcases, and rum tastings. Special performances will feature Amiel Sol, Robledo Timido, Zack Tabudlo, and Mayonnaise Band, while Tanduay ambassadors Derek Ramsay and Julia Barretto will add star power to the celebrations. A dedicated Food Park will remain open until August 31, offering festivalgoers an extended taste of local flavors paired with world-class rum.

Driving Tourism and Economic Growth

Over the years, the Rum Festival has become more than a celebration — it’s a boost for Bacolod’s economy. Thousands flock to the city each edition, energizing local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and transport services. It positions Bacolod as a destination where heritage and innovation converge, reinforcing its status as one of the Philippines’ most vibrant cultural hubs.

As Mayor Gasataya proudly declared, “See you at the 5th Tanduay Bacolod Rum Festival — let’s toast to Bacolod’s talent, culture, and spirit!”
