A new chapter in Ateneo de Naga University’s (AdNU) history unfolds as the Henry Sy Foundation, Inc. (HSFI) partners with the Jesuit-run institution to rebuild its administration building. Named in honor of the late SM Group founder, the upcoming Henry Sy Sr. Hall signifies a shared vision of advancing education in the country.
The agreement was formally sealed through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by AdNU President Fr. Aristotle Dy, SJ, and HSFI Chairman Henry Sy Jr. Also present were key leaders from the Sy family and foundation, including HSFI Trustee Hans Sy, SM Investments Executive Director Harley Sy, HSFI Executive Director Dr. Lydia Echauz, Trustee Engr. Ramon Gil Macapagal, and Corporate Secretary Atty. Corazon Morando.
This partnership reflects HSFI’s longstanding commitment to education as a transformative force. The foundation continues to support academic institutions across the Philippines, building infrastructure that fosters innovation, inclusion, and excellence. The soon-to-rise Henry Sy Sr. Hall at AdNU will not only serve as a central hub for administration but also stand as a monument to Mr. Sy’s belief in the power of education to uplift lives.

The foundation’s efforts span the country, from the Henry Sy Sr. Building at Immaculate Conception Academy in San Juan to the Henry Sy Sr. Innovation Center at Miriam College, and various university buildings under National University, De La Salle, University of the Philippines, and University of Santo Tomas, among others.
With each structure, HSFI’s advocacy becomes more deeply rooted in Philippine education. The Henry Sy Sr. Hall at Ateneo de Naga is the latest in this legacy—built not just with bricks and steel, but with purpose, vision, and hope for generations to come.
