Sailing Toward a Greener Future

In a decisive step toward sustainable transport, 2GO has teamed up with the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), forging a partnership that aligns their logistics expertise with EVAP’s mission to expand electric mobility nationwide. This collaboration marks a milestone in the logistics sector’s support for eco-friendly alternatives.

Already recognized as a lower-emission freight option due to its sea transport operations, 2GO is enhancing its environmental impact by equipping its vessels with electric vehicle (EV) charging systems. Two of its ships—MV 2GO Masikap and MV 2GO Masinag—have been retrofitted with these features, enabling them to transport and support EVs more effectively across island routes.

With these upgrades, 2GO positions itself as one of the first logistics providers in the Philippines to integrate EV charging into its maritime services. The upgraded ships now operate along key trade corridors, including Manila to Cebu and Davao, allowing for seamless EV movement across major regions of the archipelago.

Faye Alonzo, Head of 2GO’s Forwarding Business Unit, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative. “Partnering with EVAP allows us to take a proactive role in building greener roads. Our sea freight capabilities are not just reliable—they’re now aligned with the shift toward electric transport,” she noted.

For EVAP, this partnership is strategic in realizing their vision of cleaner, emission-free cities. “Transporting EVs across our islands efficiently is a challenge, and this partnership with 2GO fills a critical gap,” said EVAP President Edmund Araga. “It brings us closer to a future where clean transportation is accessible to every region.”

The partnership comes at a time when demand for EVs is on the rise, particularly in urban hubs like Cebu and Davao. In Metro Manila alone, over 74 public EV charging stations are now in place, with expansions underway to boost that number to nearly 100 before the end of the year.

2GO’s consistent weekly sailings—four times to Cebu and twice to Davao and General Santos—ensure that goods, including EVs, reach their destinations safely and on time. These schedules reinforce the company’s reputation as a dependable partner in the country’s growing green transport landscape.

With this alliance, 2GO and EVAP are not just moving vehicles—they’re steering the Philippines toward a more sustainable future, one voyage at a time.
