SM MOA Arena Shines as Epicenter of Collegiate Sports Glory

Arellano University displays strength in their cheerleading competition performance.

In May 2025, the SM Mall of Asia Arena once again proved why it stands as the heart of collegiate sports in the Philippines. Across five back-to-back events, the Arena echoed with cheers, witnessed fierce rivalries, and crowned new legends in both the UAAP and NCAA.

A Court of Dreams: NU’s Volleyball Supremacy

The high-stakes action kicked off on May 17 with a clash that had fans on the edge of their seats—the UAAP Season 87 Men’s Volleyball Finals. The National University (NU) Bulldogs faced off against the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws in a do-or-die Game 3 that pushed both squads to their limits. After a tense five-set match, the Bulldogs triumphed with a 15-11 finish in the final set, capturing their fifth straight title.

Not to be outdone, the NU Lady Bulldogs also brought home the UAAP Women’s Volleyball championship, underscoring NU’s unrivaled dominance in the sport.

Rhythm and Rivalry: UP Tops the Streetdance Stage

The Arena morphed into a high-energy dance battleground on May 20 during the UAAP Streetdance Competition. Precision, passion, and flair took center stage as the University of the Philippines (UP) Streetdance Club wowed the crowd and judges alike, seizing the crown from last year’s winners, University of Santo Tomas (UST), who settled for first runner-up. De La Salle University added flair of its own, claiming third place.

Cheers Echo for NCAA 100: Arellano Secures Six-Peat

Two days later, the Arena hosted a milestone event—the 100th season of the NCAA—and its much-awaited Cheerleading Competition. In a dazzling display of athleticism and spirit, Arellano University soared to a sixth straight championship, cementing its dynasty. Their closest rivals, University of Perpetual Help System and Colegio de San Juan de Letran, followed as first and second runners-up, respectively. The crowd’s thunderous applause was a tribute not just to Arellano’s routine, but to a century of NCAA excellence.

A Stage for Tomorrow’s Icons

These events were more than just competitions—they were a celebration of passion, perseverance, and promise. For many athletes, dancers, and cheerleaders, the SM MOA Arena is more than a venue; it is a proving ground, a spotlight, and a symbol of dreams realized. Since its opening in 2012, the Arena has become synonymous with greatness, proudly supporting the UAAP and NCAA in building a future fueled by Filipino talent and heart.

As the echoes of this unforgettable May fade, one thing remains clear: the SM MOA Arena isn’t just hosting games—it’s hosting history in the making.
