In light of the increasing hunger crisis in the Philippines, Globe has reaffirmed its dedication to fighting food insecurity as part of its observance of World Food Day 2024. Aligned with the global theme “Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future—Leave No One Behind,” Globe is taking significant strides through its Hapag Movement and Employee Volunteering Engagement Program.
Recent statistics from Social Weather Stations reveal that 16.8% of Filipinos experience moderate hunger, while a staggering 6.1% face severe food shortages. This issue is particularly acute in regions like Mindanao and the Visayas, where vulnerable low-income communities are disproportionately affected.
To address this pressing issue, Globe mobilized employees and partnered with organizations like Rise Against Hunger PH for impactful community service initiatives. At The Globe Tower, an enthusiastic group of 480 employees participated in a food repacking event that produced over 3,000 food packs benefitting approximately 18,360 individuals impacted by recent typhoons.

In Cebu City, employee volunteers dedicated their efforts to packing and distributing essential supplies to struggling families at local shelters. Their collaboration with Ayala Foundation resulted in direct support for nearly 220 households facing dire circumstances.
Further extending their reach into Davao del Norte through partnerships with Tzu Chi Foundation Davao, Globe staff provided not only food packs but also educational resources on cybersecurity for parents within Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities.
“Our initiatives represent more than just immediate relief; they embody our commitment to fostering sustainable development,” stated Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability Officer at Globe.
The launch of the #GlobeofGood Volunteering platform exemplifies this mission by making it easier for employees to engage in meaningful volunteer activities. As a corporate leader dedicated to social responsibility, Globe invites everyone to join its Hapag Movement effort aimed at building stronger communities and alleviating hunger across the nation.
