
Instituto Cervantes de Manila and the Embassy of Spain, in collaboration with the UP College of Music, proudly present celebrated Spanish classical guitarist Miguel Trápaga in two highly anticipated concerts titled The Guitar in the Time of Manuel de Falla. These performances will take place on November 25 at 6:00 PM at the UP Diliman College of Architecture and on November 28 at 7:30 PM at Instituto Cervantes in Intramuros.
Hailing from Cantabria, Spain, Miguel Trápaga is a distinguished guitarist renowned for his mastery of classical and contemporary repertoire. A graduate of Madrid’s Royal Conservatory of Music, Trápaga has earned numerous accolades, including victories at prestigious competitions such as the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition.
Trápaga’s global career spans performances in iconic venues like Beijing’s Forbidden City Auditorium and Caracas’ Teresa Carreño Theater. He has collaborated with esteemed orchestras such as the Real Filharmonía de Galicia and the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. His acclaimed discography includes seven albums, featuring celebrated works like Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez and Leo Brouwer’s Concierto de Benicassim.
The concert program offers a musical journey through Spain’s vibrant heritage. Highlights include Isaac Albéniz’s Asturias, Manuel M. Ponce’s Suite in A Minor, and Manuel de Falla’s Homenaje a Debussy. These works showcase Trápaga’s ability to capture the evocative essence of Spanish classical guitar.
