The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) and the Ilocos Norte Tourism Office (INTO) anticipate more visitors at the Paoay Lake Water Park as it successfully sustained the safe status of the lake collaborating with the Department of Science and Technology-Ilocos Norte.
Based on the latest results of a laboratory analysis conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau Region I (DENR-EMBRI), the lake’s water quality has again significantly improved and remains safe for swimming and water activities after carrying out water treatment, particularly involving establishment by the lake using Vigormin.

On February 17, 2023, DOST donated a ton of Vigormin to several establishments around Paoay Lake to assist them to neutralize the odor and mucky color of the water and prevent additional contamination of the lake.
The Vigormin was distributed to five local establishments in the Paoay Lake area, including Malacañang of the North, Kamarin Cafe, Jowtoo, Bellagio Hills, and the Paoay Lake Water Resort, and they were instructed on how to use the solution, which must be flushed down toilets and used for at least nine weeks.
This project is aligned with the initiative of Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc and the provincial government’s strong push for environmental compliance, particularly in the province’s key tourism destinations, to “green” their operations.

“Our recent water quality tests in DENR shows an improved quality of water particularly where the waterpark is right now, where it is at 8.7 pH level and according to water quality guidelines, that’s swimmable,” said Mr. Ianree B. Raquel, head of INTO.
The Paoay Lake waterpark offers its new zorb ball, the first ever floating playground in the North, along with lounge areas, sports activities, and inflatables for tourists to enjoy and use.
